Sarus crane (Scientific name: Grus antigone) The sarus crane is a large non-migratory crane found in parts of the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia and Australia. The Sarus is considered internationally threatened and is classified as Endangered under the revised IUCN Red List Categories. It is also in Appendix II of the CITES Convention and is protected by the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 under Schedule IV.
