Sat. Oct. 4th. Happy name day to all Francis, Francesco Franks et al on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi especially to the pontifex maximus Francis. Well, I finished my two weeks at the villa and we left for Milano yesterday in car. We took a shorter route from Lucca up to Parma and the A1 then on to Milano. Michael McCormick drove and did a great job! He had a portable wifi router in the car so we all have internet service on our cell phones. I was able to follow the trip on my phone. The wifi came in handy when we arrive in Milan and were able to get to the hotel without any problems since Milan is a true maze of streets. The McCormick stated at the Hotel Berna where my group will be staying next May. I met with the director of reservations, Christian, and he gave me a tour of the hotel. Happy to report that the hotel is very clean and well maintained. Went to a great restaurant, La Fattoria, to book for the group.Had a great dinner with Lou, Gail & Mike McCormick and Paola & Vincenzo Scalera. Need one more place. Going there today so Milan should be taken care of. Getting ready to leave with Paola Paula Keller Scalera to go to Piacenza for the unveiling of a painting by Ulisse Sartini ulissesartini.it/ in a church. Ulisse has been the portrait painter for the last three popes. Tomorrow on to Venice for two nights then on to Roma. Have a lunch date with Jackie LaCorte on Wed. Thursday coming home!
