Sat next to a cardiologist last week at a charity dinner, and we spoke about how the hearts blood circulates naturally in a figure 8, infinity loop. Intriguingly, science has no explanation for why this occurs. The cardiologist also told me that when he puts pace makers into his patients, he knows they are in the correct place when the wires of the pacemaker begin moving – completely on their own accord – in a figure 8 loop. Apparently water also moves naturally into figure 8s when it flows from one container into the next (called biodynamic flow forms). Donna Farhi shared this video in recent workshop from a permaculture farm, which illustrates a figure 8 pattern in water, and then offered how we can explore these patterns in our own bodies through fluid, figure 8 movements of the hips and shoulders/arms.
