Saturday October 26, 2013. Luke 8:18, “Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.” Lord Jesus, speak to me. As I meditate on this verse, it comes to me that Jesus is continuing with the theme that started with the sower. Jesus is now telling me, directly, that I have a responsibility in hearing. If I listen with an open and eager mind, I will learn. As I use what I have learned and seek more, more will be given to me. As I continue to use what I have gained, and seek more, more understanding of the spiritual realm and spiritual things will be given to me. This same theme runs parallel in the physical world. If I use my muscles they will get larger and stronger. If I do not use them they will diminish. There are also some activities that will make my muscles larger, and there are some uses that will make them stronger. There are some uses that will make them both. This is also true with my mind. If I actively use my mind, it will grow stronger and larger. I can do this by reading and solving problems. Problem solving is one of the best way to make my mind stronger and more functional. Increase and functionality seem to be a theme here. As the seed is sown, an increase is produced. As Your light shines, an increase is produced. As I actively listen, an increase in produced. As I .learn, an increase is produced. Jesus seems to be all about increased production, which equals people saved, and his “Church” increases and becomes stronger. Jesus says in Matthew, “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church” Lord teach me to listen better, to learn better, to exercise better, to use what you have given me better, and to produce a larger yield. Amen.
