Saturday, September 14th The War Came By Train Lecture Series: How to Build a Civil War Model Railroad Speaker: Bernard Kempinski 11:00 a.m. Join us for a lecture with Bernard Kempinski who will show the importance of railroads in the Civil War for both strategic and tactical roles. Through detailed research and photographic documentation, he will discuss their equipment, infrastructure and operation. He will also show how he is using military miniatures and model trains to create a museum quality depiction of Civil War era US Military Railroad. Mr. Kempinski is a defense analyst specializing in national security issues, especially unmanned aircraft and armored vehicles. He is also a freelance writer, photographer and model builder who has written three books and over 40 magazine articles including several in Civil War railroading.
