Saturday September 27th Le Pub - Newport JESS KLEIN A native of Rochester, New York, Jess Klein learned to play acoustic guitar and started writing songs while living in Kingston, Jamaica in her late teens. Kleins sixth album, City Garden [Five Stars, MOJO Magazine] caused the Boston Globe to describe her as Quite simply one of the most gifted performers this area has produced. Having previously played an astounding show for local promoters Gathered In Song we consider it an honour to welcome Jess to our stage this September. GEORGE FRAKES Draped in paisley, velvet and corduroy, Folk songwriter George Frakes emerges from the fog of London town. He steps up, on to the stage, and begins. The sound that majestically swells forth from the very marrow of his bones will chill your sight, warm your smile and fire your soul, whilst exuding a quiet, calm energy focussed into a stream of seamless finger-picked guitar and vocals equal the likes of John Martyn and Nick Drake. George has become a much sought after figure on the British folk scene having released his debut EP Ghost Of The Girl early 2011 to much critical acclaim and has been personally invited to support such prestigious acts as Foy Vance, Daughter and Frank Turner. Frakes is a presence who simply refuses to deliver anything less than his entire soul and the peak of his energy to the feet of the listener.
