Saving “the faithful” By Waseem Altaf Lady Reading, the Jewish, was the wife of Lord Reading, viceroy of India from 1921 to 1926. While on a sight-seeing visit to Peshawar city, she fell from the horse back and was injured. She was rushed to Agerton Hospital where due to scanty medical facilities she could not get required medical care. She was then shifted to Royal Artillery Hospital (now CMH) where she received proper treatment. This incident greatly impacted her and she came to Peshawar all the way from Delhi and campaigned to construct a standard hospital in place of Agerton. This new hospital was subsequently named as Lady Reading Hospital. Today i.e. July 29, 2013 after a bomb blast in Peshawar, tens of injured are being treated at Lady Reading Hospital. Mission Hospital Quetta was established in 1886 by the Church Mission Society. Dr. Henry Holland, a Christian was its first in- charge and remained associated with it for the rest of his life. He was instrumental in its expansion and success. When on August 8, 2013 a suicide bomber targeted a funeral of a policeman in Quetta, 30 died while dozens of wounded were immediately shifted to Mission Hospital Quetta. Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is a 550-bed hospital in Lahore, Pakistan. It was originally established in 1921 by Sir Ganga Ram, a Hindu Civil Engineer in the British Government . Sir Ganga Ram had earlier donated the piece of land for the hospital. When on July 7, 2013 a time-device exploded in the food street of Lahore the injured were rushed to Sir, Ganga Ram hospital.
