Saw this on the national news last night. Who would have thought HEB would make the list. Way to go. A survey of thousands of employees at hundreds of firms nationwide reveals that San Antonio based HEB is the best company in Texas to work for, and the seventh best in the entire country, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports. The results were released by the employment site Glassdoor dot com. As the largest private employer in Texas, HEB is absolutely honored and humbled to be ranked highly among this distinguished group of companies, HEB spokeswoman Kimberly Harle said. Glassdoor rated HEB ahead of high profile tech companies, like Apple and Facebook. which strive to provide workers with unusual perks like free food, recreational facilities, and non traditional work places. The survey ranks Google the best place to work in America, but several companies which arent usually thought of as magnificent work places made it into the top ten. Companies like the Boston based venture capitalist Bain and Company, which was founded by 2012 Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney, and Californias iconic In-and-Out Burger also ranked in the top ten. In 2015, we will be marking 110 years of serving Texas families and our communities, and our success would absolutely not be possible without our partners, Harle said. The significance of Glassdoors rankings is that they are the product of confidential surveys filled out by the employees themselves. At HEB, employees generally rated their own personal managers highly, said the company is competently managed in an organized way, and said things like vacation days are handled professionally and fairly. Great company, great pay and benefits, one HEB worker who identified herself as a cashier wrote. 85% of HEB employees said they would recommend HEB to a friend as a work place, and 96% of HEB employees approve of the work of CEO Charles Butt. That is moe than the percentage of Apple employees who approve of CEO Tim Cook. The ranking by Glassdoor is a genuine testament to our partners about HEB, Harle said. At HEB our partners really do matter, and we have a commitment to make their lives better. HEB is the only Texas-based company in Glassdoors top ten, and only one other Texas based company, Dallas based Southwest Airlines, made the top twenty.
