Say Hello to Sasha! Like so many dogs in our Village, she has heart worms. Her Mom contacted FOHCAS and we are able to help with the cost of treatment. Please make a donation today so we can continue to say yes! Her Mom, Beverly, tell us this I am so grateful for your help. Our dog’s name is Sasha. For the past year, my two daughters have been asking for a pet. Since they are older now, I promised that if they did well in school and showed responsibility, they could have a dog. Since their birthdays are in July, we thought this was the perfect time to make good on that promise. I knew from friends’s experiences and stories that we would adopt a dog when the time came. We wanted to provide a home to a dog in need and save a life. We all went to the animal shelter last Saturday, and were disappointed that we didn’t find the right dog for our home. A few days later, I went back – alone this time. I explained to the volunteers that we were first time pet-owners and asked for help. I was led way in the back to kennel not open to the public. This dog, they said, was microchipped, but the owner had not responded. I looked at this dog, who’d lost much of her hair, had recovered from fleas and was shaking from fear. It’s hard to explain why I connected with her when we had our meet and greet. Her eyes looked sad, like they’d seen a lot on her journey. She looked like she needed me, needed the love and affection of a doting teenager and preteen. Now that she is home, she has melted all of our hearts. We are looking forward to nurturing her back to health. That’s the best way I can explain how I knew that Sasha was the one! She is the perfect addition to our family.
