Scam Alert from Tri-State Better Business Bureau: Residents of the Tri-State have notified your #BBB that they are receiving calls from numbers that appear to be local, but these calls are automated recordings offering to lower interest rates. Dont press any numbers on your telephone keypad because this lets the perpetrators know that theyve reached a working phone number which they can spoof. The FTC and the Indiana attorney General also advise recipients of such calls not to answer as this type of call is illegal. If you receive such a call with an offer to lower your credit card interest rate, hang up immediately. Tri-State Better Business Bureau July 31, 2014
