#ScamAlert #LottoScammers #MaderaPolice Today an elderly female was approached in the area of 4th and D St., in regards to a reported winning lottery ticket. The suspect, was only described as an elderly Spanish speaking female who tried to convince the victim to help her redeem the winnings, by reporting that she needed to come up with $12, 000 to claim a $100, 000 prize. The victim was asked to contribute half the money and in return the victim would be given $20, 000. The victim first believed this to be true and withdrew $6, 000 from her bank. The suspect then tried to hold onto the money and seperate herself from the victim. At some point the victim became alarmed and took her money back and called police. This scam has been done in Madera prior and the suspects have been male and female, targeting elderly people. We ask that you report any similar cases to police and do not remove money from your bank.
