Scary times when platforms based on petty selfishness, racism, and revisionist national history are more persuasive in the Civilized West than a commitment to common good. You can blame the left to a point for adopting anarcho-syndicalism as a model. For failing to look outside the decadent, fast shrinking post-modern box. For relying solely on feminist critique and demonizing the apparently necessary masculine appeals. For failing to organize. And for the resultant failure to control Black Bloc window smashers and the like. But you can only blame us to a point. You cant even talk to people when your ideas include the slightest measure of benefit to a perceived other. When you rationally plan to sacrifice the already illusory promise of great wealth to eliminate hunger. When Jesus is a bumper sticker who stands for “Hate this, kill that” rather than a prophet who says “Feed him, love her.” When economics is more about justifying scarcity, not about addressing it. Why? Seriously, what do you people need or want to hear to want to change this? And please, stop pretending this shit won’t hit the fan the next time a speculation-driven bubble collapses.
