Schools are starting to get smart by training and allowing their staff the opportunity to protect their students. Although Washington State is a purely blue state, this school district is putting the students safety first. Toppenish is in a very rural area where response time can be delayed, but schools in highly populated areas should take notice.......many of the deaths related to school shootings could have been prevented if school staff were allowed to carry. -Mustang Annie- Arming school staff is especially appropriate in a rural area where police response takes longer, said Randy Town, safety and security coordinator for Educational Service District 105, which serves school districts in Yakima and Kittitas counties and parts of Grant and Klickitat counties.
