Science Bowl - February 14, 2015 Volunteers Needed California State University, Bakersfield will host 23rd annual Kern County Regional Science Bowl on Saturday, Feb. 14. This will be the 18th consecutive year that Science Bowl has been on the CSUB campus. We will have 32 five-member teams from 16 Kern County high schools competing in a fast-paced, question-answer format that covers such subjects as: physics, biology, chemistry, math, energy, earth and space science. Matches consist of two 8-minute halves. Each match will have four officials in the room: a moderator, who will read the questions, rules judge, timekeeper, and scorekeeper. Our main need is for timekeepers and scorekeepers for the morning session. All officials must attend a training session before the competition where they will be trained for the various positions and given the competition rules. All the volunteers will be provided a t-shirt, morning snack, and lunch, courtesy of our sponsors. You will have the opportunity to see some of the best and brightest high school students in Kern County compete. Click on to the website below (or paste the address into your browser) and fill out the volunteer form. Any questions, contact Elsa Gomez at 654-2030. cs.csubak.edu/ScienceBowl/Volunteer.html THANK YOU to all of you that have volunteered before or will volunteer. YOU make this event happen and provide these great students with a day to remember. Elsa Gomez ([email protected]) 661-654-2030
