Scott bought a new toaster oven which led to a kitchen reno. The toaster oven finally died, owing us nothing. Scott came home and announced that he couldnt find another that mounted under the cabinet like our old one. Whew, thought I - that was a terrible design, a veritable fire hazard. Well, the old one was up when we tiled the back splash all around the kitchen - and, as it turns out, around the old toaster oven! I have some tile left, says Scott. Hey, you still want me to rip out the built in wine rack next to the fridge? (Only for the past several years, thinks I but not really today when Im lying on the couch lamenting too many sulfites in the wine the night before!) Might as well, while Ive got the tile out, I have enough... and so it began (and continued all day with tile cutter and various other noisy power tools). By days end, we had a pine plank shelf to match the island wall mounted to get the coffee maker off of the counter (cause yknow, now weve lost prime countertop real estate with the new toaster oven!) I commence cleaning up the smeared grout and plaster dust that only I can see. Gave the stove top a good cleaning - well, while I have the gloves and degreaser lets have at the fridge - which involves taking down the way too many fridge magnets and outdated CHEO phone numbers from the toddler years... next thing I know, Im not putting any of this crap back up and Im now behind the fridge! Full sweat, Im cleaning the toe kick recessed below the cabinets, pulling out the recycle bins and cleaning under the sink. Then I noticed that around the handles on all of my white cupboards is less than white...a couple of hours later, I have an exceptionally clean kitchen! Bad news Scott, now its evident that it needs repainting!!!
