Searching for the pinkest sands your eyes have ever seen? Do the turquoise waters of the #Caribbean call your name? You need to discover the tiny island of Eleuthera in the #Bahamas, to see arguably the most exquisite beaches in the world. Located just 50 miles east of Nassau, this mini sliver of an island packs some amazing spots into such a tiny bit of land out in the Atlantic. Eleuthera is a long, thin island in some places only one mile wide but is 110 miles long. Hop a tiny island flight with Bahamas Air to connect to this little bit of paradise. From top to bottom One of the best ways to see the miles and miles of pink sandy beach on the island of Eleuthera is by car. This is perhaps the easiest way to pick your spot in the sand. Be sure to arrange a car rental with local supplier, Eleuthera Car Rentals in advance of your arrival. Then you can easily head out to explore beach after beach and harbour after harbour at your own pace. Pack your towel, swimsuit and more in the trunk so you can dunk into the ocean on a whim. Try Lighthouse Beach, French Leave Beach and Ten Bay Beach and then compare which is the best of the best. Local eats The Bahamian waters are chocker block full of stunning conch shells. While some may think these beauties make for a great souvenir to pack in your luggage, leave them behind for the local fisherman and instead, find a local restaurant to enjoy a conch meal. Conch fritters, conch salad you name it, they make it. Similar to squid, conch is tough in texture but sweet and delicious. You can literally taste the freshness of the sea. Try local beachfront spot Tippy’s on Banks Road in Governor’s Harbour, located at the Pineapple Fields Beach Hotel. This Oceanside restaurant boasts a beautiful deck on the edge of the Atlantic and offers delicious, simple and fresh local fair. Riding in the ocean For a particularly cool and interesting experience how about a horseback ride. Oceanview Farm offers horseback rides amongst the nature trails with a plethora of birds, flora and fauna to view. This is a super way to experience the island as you head out on a stunning lake trail that eventually leads to the ocean. Gallop along the shore where the pink sands meet the aqua sea. No experience is required as Oceanview Farms, located in Governor’s Harbour, is accessible for all riding levels. They specialize in relaxing and stunning tours. Caribbean history A tour around the small capital of Eleuthera, Governor’s Harbour, is definitely worth a little visit. Steeped in history, Governor’s Harbour is home of the island’s government offices and is perhaps the prettiest town on the whole island. Victorian-era buildings make up this quaint spot, making for charming photographs in contrast to serene beach shots. Be sure to bring your walking shoes and take some time to explore the narrow, steep lanes. For those looking for a gentle, simple stroll back in time, this is the spot. Created by Lynn May Gosselin.
