Security officers are currently posted at Nairobis Uhuru Park ahead of the planned Saba Saba rally to be convened by Cord alliance. The officers who have been stationed at the park from the early hours of Monday morning were served breakfast even as last minute patrols with security dogs were conducted. Cord has termed the gathering as the mother of all rallies and added that it will be a consultative forum for Kenyans to suggest ways of solving problems facing the country. The rally will start at 8am according to ODM’s director of communications Philip Etale contrary to a directive by Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo stating that the rally is to start at 10am. After the rally, which must end not later than 5pm, people should disperse peacefully. Any individual, whatever their status, who acts in a manner that threatens security will meet the full force of the law, Kimaiyo said on Friday. Etale however said that the Cord cannot estimate the time at which the rally will end and will therefore carry on with it until their agenda is complete. “This is a people’s rally. We expect our meeting to start as early as 8am, but the same people will determine the time when the meeting should end,” Etale said. Raila is expected to give a keynote address with written resolutions from the consultative rally which the coalition will submit to the government. 23 17 googleplus0 Disqus seems to be taking longer than usual.
