See if C-3PO is meant to be such an advanced robot for interpreting languages (he claims to be fluent in over six million forms of communication), why does he speak different alien languages with a strong southern English accent that native speakers dont have? His phonology and intonation are nothing like theirs! Seriously - watch him in action when he has a conversation with an alien beastie any time hes required as an interpreter, and compare his speech to his interlocutors. Surely it would make more sense to have speech generated by synthesisers using recorded samples from native speakers of these languages? Not only does the current model produce badly rendered speech samples, its also ethically problematic in that hes (i.e. the voice actor his makers used for all of these languages) almost certainly denying work to millions of other voice actors, some of whom will almost certainly be from marginalised minority language communities with few employment opportunities, and all of whom would provide better recordings. Shoddy knockoff. YOURE FOOLING NOBODY, C-3PO! YOURE THE GOOGLE TRANSLATE OF SPACE!
