See if this is right side up. Running through videos and found this recent one. Like to hear it now and then since its gonna be w while til I get to. Porting heads for a buddy to get the race car painted and after that well get back to it so hopefully we can put a test-n-tune on her before the snow hits. I was having Carburetor issues. I wasnt spiking the motor for the fun of it. Break in is supposed to be after startup. I built an 850 CFM drag race carb and the idle circuits are not tuned with the transfer circuits so it unloads and wont idle. Goes rich as hell after transfer circuit and will not idle below 3K. Stock the carb had 80 mains front and rear, after blocking the rear power valve and a few tricks the idle circuit wont unload enough fuel, transfer circuit acts normal and power circuit dumps fuel. I am a beginner carb builder. Head bolts were leaking water so the plug was pulled before damage could occur. After new head studs are installed it will fire again in the car. If anyone knows what may be going wrong here please listen and let me know. Far as I know base timing is ok, Idle circuits are a no go, transfer ok and power circuits are too rich. When I blocked the rear power valve I was told to go from 80 main jets on 4 corners to 82 in front and 90s in rear to compensate for power valve plug off. Any hints would be great. Both accelerator pumps were adjusted to no slack. Carb has 4781 metering plates and Thats about all I know. Fuel on 12.6/1 compression was 100 octane and I was told 110-112 minimum. Had to fire it up though. Plugs came out black from rich condition but ive been adjusting to try and compensate. Any thoughts?
