Seeing as its #NationalPoetryDay today I thought Id stick this up...last heard on the night of speeches after Olivia and Nick s wedding this summer (along with some slate) Mauritius Waves lapping endlessly, Against the thirsty shore. Gentle rollers, froth throwing Water to sandy new heights, The one true constant, Ad infinitum. Forever falling short, Dismayed it will try again, and again. Whilst boats bob and dip Upon the roller, coaster current, Rooted to their moorings, And still the waves come. Unabated, yet calming, Willing, and more than (renew)able, Their imprint lasts a mere second Before it is lost for an eternity In the sands of time, Or dragged back into the swash, Spluttering, before, once more unto the beach Dear friends, continuing its relentless assault. The land remains unscathed, unsalted, resolute. Breakers carry sand to new horizons, The beginnings of beaches trapped within Ebb and flow of the tide, Awaiting their temporal destination. No place to rest, no time. As gentle and soothing as these waves appear, There exists some seamless quality that silently conveys itself, Some distinctly powerful force far greater than you or I at work, Neither rising nor falling, but Forever turning over, pursuing its dynamic path, Wending its way, shaping the earth, Through incandescent swirls.
