Seeing racism emerging from shallow depths and people willingly buying into manufactured consent. Realise that when your country eagerly wages war on others, kills innocents for the cause, backs aggressors doing so, then probably expect kickback. Oz paid the price with military losses, with the Bali bombings... I travel past the memorials for innocents caught up in that slaughter most days. I also go to Bali and see how disrespectful Aussies have damaged the Balinese homeland and culture with hedonistic, selfish ways. Christians deliberately behaving badly in a Muslim country despite their own countrymen having paid the ultimate price for doing the same thing. We have not learnt from our mistakes. We treat others who flee atrocities, torture and murder to seek refuge here with contempt, let them die in detention on our watch. Realise too our history - that the British who stole Australia from its original inhabitants enslaved and massacred them...beheaded them, let them rot and die in unspeakable conditions, mistreated them for generations as fringe dwellers or worse. We have never, ever reconciled our barbarism with the Aboriginal/Indigenous/First Peoples of Australia. There are no memorials to them, to the true innocents. Afraid of terrorists? Australia was created by terrorists.
