Seems like we need to develop our collective understanding of what is meant by cultural appropriation. In that spirit, I am going to share this video and urge other people to share their own resources in the comments. Then I am going to invite people who struggle with the idea *not* to reactively post opposing comments but to go away and think about it, read some more, and let the idea float around in their head for *at least a year*. Im simply going to delete any dismissive comments from this thread because mods and others have spent enough time on this education process and we now need to take responsibility for our own learning. I too have struggled with this topic, but Ive bitten my tongue because the white person does not always have to air their opinion and sometimes its worth just mulling stuff over. I dont know whether I have a full grasp of the issue, Im still learning so Im mostly still shutting up on the issue. This is a conversation that should be dominated by the (diverse and sometimes disagreeing) voices of POC. Hopefully exploring our privilege as white women will give insights into how men experience and resist their privilege, and so will be immensely useful as part of raising our feminist consciousness. ~SH
