Selection of beneficiaries of National Food Security Mission on To make the National Food Security Mission dream taken up by the UPA government at the centre a success, the state government had made necessary arrangements to identify beneficiaries of the state. Allocation for the same will be made according to the number of beneficiaries. According to an official source, a target to encompass about 23.78 lakh people out of the total population of 27, 27, 749 (2011 census) under the scheme had been made, which amounts to 4.75 lakh households of the state at an average of 5 persons per household. As soon as the scheme becomes effective, 70.31% households (16.72 lakh) in rural areas and 29.64% (7.05 lakh) in urban will be benefitted. The state had taken up necessary steps for identification of beneficiaries prior to the implementation of the Ordinance so that no lapses occur. The first thing required is finding out the number of beneficiaries and for this, ration cards previously issued are inspected minutely and required new ones will be issued. “False” ration cards will be excluded, the source added. manipurtimes/news-article/the-peoples-chronicle-news/item/2559
