Self-Identity: From March 31, the Myanmar census will take place - the first one since 1973. It is a big deal. I have watched the interview of Dr. Khaing Khaing Soe of the Central Census Commission (CCC), also Senior Officer of Department of Population. As a Rakhine herself, its heart-wrenching to hear her telling 1 million Rohingya in Rakhine State If you step your two legs on the land of another country, you have to obey, be polite,... and if they identified themselves as Rohingya, they are running the risk of being arrested. They can only identify themselves as Bengli - a foreigner. To be fair, It is not new. It happened to the Greeks of Turkey, and the Chinese of Indonesia. But the question we are asking ourselves is, who can decide who we are other than ourselves? Here is the link of Dr. Khaing Khaing Soes interview uploaded on March 29: https://facebook/photo.php?v=638640996209644&set=vb.465866293487116&type=2&theater [鬧得越兇，福氣越薄？] 當我們為台灣的政治糾結的時候，請讓我為你說一個緬甸若開邦(Rakhine State)的故事。今天(3/31)開始一周是緬甸1973年以來第一次的人口普查。對於對外界隔絕二十幾年，普查對於2015年即將到來的大選，至關重要，但是在若開邦自治區，占總人口的約四分之一，將近一百萬人信奉伊斯蘭教的羅興亞人被指責是來自孟加拉國的非法定居者，這些1824-1948英國殖民期間被英軍帶到緬甸的孟加拉少數民族，因為在緬甸時間太短，不被政府承認有公民權，也不承認有羅興亞人的存在。將心比心，如果1824年以後移民台灣的家庭都不被允許拿台灣身分證、護照的話，這是一件多荒謬的事！這次人口普查，來自若開邦的中央人口委員會代表Khaing Khaing Soe博士，3/29粗暴地在電視上呼籲「羅興亞人兩腳踏在別人的國土上，就要服從，要認份....」，這次普查時候不准寫自己是羅興亞人，只能寫自己是孟加拉人，承認自己是逾期居留的外國人，不這麼做的話會被當犯人逮捕。 羅興亞人沒有國籍，緬甸政府將他們從交通方便的地區遷往幾乎與世隔絕地區，住在若開邦的穆斯林在事先沒有得到各自村莊首領或警察的同意，不准遷徙，在國內不准自由行動，受到各種形式的敲詐勒索和任意徵稅；沒收土地，強制驅逐和破壞房屋，在軍營被強迫勞動，以及酷刑、處決、強姦，不被承認，卻又不准離開緬甸，還並須簽署文件承諾不准生兩個以上的孩子。1978年以來沈默的羅興亞人，因為「服從」，「守法」造成了悲劇的命運，看來從今天開始的全國人口普查，也將繼續漠視這100萬人的存在。 覺得荒謬嗎？一點也不。不懂得思考，你我可能都是下一批羅興亞人。 （圖片是1973年緬甸人口普查的紀念郵票）
