Sent in by Patrick Three men who took £33 worth of food from a skip outside an Iceland store will no longer face trial after prosecutors dropped charges against them. The Crown Prosecution Service said it was not in the public interest to pursue charges against Londoners Paul May, Jason Chan and William James. The climbdown followed anger at people being prosecuted under an obscure part of a 200-year-old law for taking food destined for the landfill or the recycling centre. Iceland itself said it did not see why the case was in the public interest, saying it ‘sympathised with those who are struggling to meet their food bills’. metro.co.uk/2014/01/29/charges-dropped-against-three-men-who-took-food-from-iceland-skip-4282480/?ITO=facebook DA
