Sent today: To the person reading this: Charley Reeses final column for the Orlando Sentinel... He was a journalist for 49 years. He is retired, and these are excepts from HIS LAST COLUMN. This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be. The article below is completely neutral, neither anti-Republican or Democrat. *** “545 vs 300,000,000 People-By Charlie Reese Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits? Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes? You and I dont propose a federal budget. The President does. (not recently) You and I dont have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I dont write the tax code,Congress does. You and I dont set fiscal policy, Congress does. You and I dont control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does. 100 senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.” *** “I cant think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist. If the tax code is unfair, its because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, its because they want it in the red. If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan its because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan.” *** “Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids. What happened? Can you spell politicians?” ****** Can we agree that a strong economy will create a strong country? Can we agree that a strong economy will create jobs? Can we agree that our economy is not strong, and our job market is far less than adequate? All things politicians campaign about, but are not fulfilled. If the economy is not strong, its because Congress, and the POTUS, want it weak. If there are not enough jobs for everyone that wants to work, its because Congress, and the POTUS, really dont want jobs for everyone. President Obama, along with numerous Democrats, is calling for a raise to the minimum wage. “Stupid is as stupid does.” - Forrest Gump Take home pay can be increased, without raising the minimum wage. “PASS THE FAIR TAX” It cant get any simpler than this. The Fair Tax will also create jobs, and greatly boost the economy. A strong economy means a strong country. There is no income based tax system that will ever do this, only the Fair Tax will. DO YOU WANT TO CREATE A STRONG ECONOMY? DO YOU WANT TO CREATE JOBS? WHY ARE YOU NOT VOTING TO PASS THE FAIR TAX? Is it because Congress, and the POTUS, are tax junkies? You thrive off of lobbyists and special interest groups. This is a taxpayer problem caused by Congress, and the POTUS, and you are refusing to correct it for the good of the American People, and country.
