Sept. 11, 2014: Team SEAC and the Womens USA Basketball Team landed at the University of Delaware for special events and activities where the athletes held a scrimmage in preparation for the 2014 FIBA World Championships. In memory of 9/11, fans at the Bob Carpenter Center paused for a moment of silence. The Dover Air Force Base, Delaware color guard and Air Force Master Sgt. Megan Parrott kicked off the ceremonies with singing our National Anthem. Then, 28 service members from the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard stretched the length of the court to hang a specially made pair of symbolic military dog tags around each player as they will travel overseas to represent the United States. This military/USA Basketball partnership is part of General Martin E. Dempseys Sports Outreach Initiative called Commitment to Service -- linking athletes and service members together to serve communities around the nation.
