September 11, 2001: I was a Sophomore in college and was going through a family tragedy of my own. Just a week earlier, we had found out my mom had a spot on her brain and that it was a tumor. I am thankful for my friends and family who devoted their time to pray and be available to us. I had spent the previous night at a friends house, John Riddles, and woke up to discover the news on the radio. I will never forget the panic and concern among the people. Also, the following Wednesday night churches were packed with people seeking answers. Our nation had been attacked and people were in shock. I am thankful for all the emergency and rescue personnel who came to help in the effort. The men and women who are giving of themselves daily, for our safety, should always be praised and appreciated. Ladies and Gentlemen it is sad to see the state of despair our nation has fallen into. We as blood-bought, born-again Christians need to be on our knees daily praying. The church needs to stand strong! Ronald Reagan said it best, If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
