September 11th has changed any peoples lives and sent them on a different path. I was a young college kid just trying to play football and do ROTC as I served in the National Guard. I remember getting a phone call from my mother, telling me to turn on the TV. I was so angry as the morning progressed. I was called by my unit commander asking if I wanted to help build a wire fence around an airfield in lower Michigan... I said yes before he was done talking. I wanted to do something, anything to help! After that, I was on six moth orders to guard an airport in Iron Wood, Mi. I felt a sense of accomplishment but I wanted more. I enlisted into the Active Army after my orders were up and I got exactly what I asked for... a deployment to invade Iraq. Many men and women gave their lives because of that tragic event that took place on 9-11. That one day changed so many peoples path in their lives. It is crazy to think how much different my life would be if that day never happened. As we start to enter 9-11, stop and give thanks to all of those who keep us safe and who are doing their best to protect us every day. Think about all those children who were in the daycare and their lives were taken. Think about those who were on those planes, in the buildings, fire fighters rushing in... Just remember... give thanks and remember no matter who tries to do us harm... there will be men and women ready to fight those demons at any cost at any time. We stand ready... stand up with us or step aside.
