September 15, 1965 - Lost in Space premiered on CBS TV. The kind of Science fiction program network suits thought Star Trek should be. It started out as an adventure, their space ship Jupiter 2 being sabotaged by the evil Dr. Smith, and other complications sending them off unknown light years from earth. As the series progressed, however, it became more of a comedy and Dr. Smith, more of an irritant and inept buffoon. Eventually, everyone, the suits, the cast, and many fans, were lost in disinterest.
