September 19, 2014 Dear Truett Wilson Middle School Community, At Truett Wilson Middle School we take great pride in being your community school and place your children’s health and safety as a top priority. For this reason, I must make you aware of a number of acts of vandalism and neglect that continue to occur on the campus, and the measures we must take to protect your investment and the welfare of your children. Since January, the turf on the football field has been repaired three different times due to someone hitting golf balls on the field and causing damage. The field has also suffered burned areas and attempts have been made to cut a hole in the field to remove pieces of the turf. The track around the field has been damaged by bicycles and other vehicles being ridden on the track surface. Although signs are posted that dogs should not be allowed within the facility, dog feces have been found on many areas of the field. And, most recently there has been damage to equipment stored inside the fenced facility. I know many of you have enjoyed the track and use it for the purpose it was intended. Unfortunately, a small number of individuals misusing the facility had an impact on everyone. In order to continue to keep your children’s health and safety a priority, it is necessary to limit unsupervised use of the facility and to close the track and field, except for school use only. The closing of the track and field for unsupervised use will become effective immediately. We appreciate your patience and support of this matter. It is an honor to serve the families of Truett Wilson Middle School, and we continue to take great pride in being your community school. Please join us to help strengthen community-wide pride in your school and the education of your children. Respectfully, Mike Blankenship, Principal Truett Wilson Middle School
