September 21, 2014 - National Back To Church Sunday Scripture: Matthew 17:14-20 Scriptural Focus: I CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS! I AM A MOUNTAIN MOVER! ► Jesus = The focus of the word ► Life = up, down, high, low, heaven, hell ► Nature adds meaning & metaphor to Gods word ► Mountain experience = great success, great sacrifice, intense worship, joy ► Valley experience = great struggle, sorrow, sadness, trouble ► I will have both mountain top AND valley experiences ► Sometimes the mountain feels like its on top of me! ► Sabbath/Sunday = Come on up to the mountain top & rest ► Its hard to climb the mountain top. Its easier to stay in the valley ► I cant get to the mountain top without going through the valley ► I have to earn my way to the mountain top ► God wants me to have mountain top experiences ► Its not for the mountain top - its for me! ► Mountain Top = accountability & responsibility ► Lowest level living vs highest level level ► All have sinned & fallen short! ► The valley is only a struggle if I want to get out! ► No top of any mountain comes down to me. I must climb UP the mountain & go get it! ► Top of the mountain = One accord ► I can move my mountain! With Gods help I have gotten out of valleys before! Sermon In Action: 1) Affirmations: I CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS! I AM A MOUNTAIN MOVER! 2) Whats your story? Tell someone about a valley you have experienced. Than tell them how you made it of the valley and reached a mountain top. Describe to them how you felt while you were in the valley, and how you felt when you got to the mountain top. If possible, trace how you climbed from the valley to the mountain top. Your testimony may help someone who is currently in a valley. 3) Many people have attempted to climb the highest mountain peaks in the world. Research what equipment/tools are needed to scale mountains. What equipment/tools will you need to scale YOUR current mountain? 4) Invite at least one person to experience the mountain top of Sunday church worship service with you next week.
