September 22nd marks the Joti Jot of Guru Nanak Sahib (when he gave up his body). We all know the sakhi of Guru Nanak Sahibs death. The Hindus of Kartarpur insisted on cremating Guru Nanak Sahibs body while the Muslims of the town demanded that he be buried. Of course, after they checked for Guru Sahibs body under the shawl, there was nothing there but flowers. Miracles stories are fine. They vividly demonstrate the power of the Guru Sahibs, make us feel proud to have such great Gurus and can be used as a teaching tool. But let us look at what Bhai Gurdas says the real miracle of Guru Nanak Sahibs death is. Its the fact that he transferred his jot, his very essence into Bhai Lehna! That is the real Karamat!
