September 9, 2014 album release: Haven’t Got The Blues (Yet) (Brand new studio recording by American singer, songwriter Loudon Wainwright III) Track listing: Brand New Dance, Spaced, In a Hurry, Depression Blues, The Morgue, Harmless, Man & Dog, Harlan County, I Knew Your Mother, Looking at the Calendar, I’ll Be Killing You This Christmas, God & Nature, Haven’t Got The Blues (Yet), Last Day of The Year, Maybe, Susie When I saw Loudon on the weekend, he announced from the stage that the cd release date was Tues Sept 9. After the show I told him that Wikipedia says the release date was July 28. He told me that July 28 was the UK release date (which I thought of, but Wiki didn’t specify that like they usually do). Then I told him that despite iTunes saying the release date was Sept 9, I was able to download the entire record several days before that. Loudon said: “But you didn’t get the artwork.” True. Anyways...... It’s just a fine record. And judging by the whoops and laughter overheard in this clip of Loudon performing Track 7 from it, I’m sure I wont be the only one claiming this as the favourite. When I saw him perform Man & Dog at both the Aeolian Hall and Hugh’s Room a few days ago, we got the added benefit of hearing him recite the entire story about the family dog that his dad wrote in TIME Magazine. (Loudon the 2nd had a column in TIME called A View From Here). It was very moving. Great storytellers them Wainwrights. Now listen...
