September is blood cancer awareness month. Here’s a fact: without blood cancer research, my mom would be dead. She spent 6 months in an isolation room and endured chemo and transplants. For 10 years, I told very few people about this because I thought I’d receive pity. I want people to know it is thanks to the incredible work of countless “anchors”, some of whom I have tagged, and the man I mention in this video clip from last year, a hero of mine, that she is in perfect health. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for everything you do. Not everyone is this fortunate, but their light will never dwindle. Every cause is worthy. I am backing this initiative because I feel it is important to raise awareness by highlighting the incredible stories behind the faces that propel patients toward a better future.
