September is the 10th annual national emergency preparedness - TopicsExpress

September is the 10th annual national emergency preparedness month, and as usual time for me to make my autumn appeal to friends & family (which is similar to my pre-tornado-season appeal). Winter is coming - time to check your emergency supplies. Flashlights, batteries, emergency heat, extra blankets. Make sure you have at least 3 gallons of water for everyone in your home, including pets. Snow shovel, ice melt, cell phones with battery chargers. First aid kit. In the car, couple of protein bars, warm blankets (again, remember pets), candle & waterproof matches. Small first Aid kit. Small shovel, kitty litter (in case you lose traction), "send help" sign, car cell charger. Always keep the tank at least half full - start saving now (LOL). Great resources: CDC.gov, FEMA, American Red Cross. Get ready for winter!
