Serengeti means grass plains in Swahili, but in my language it - TopicsExpress

Serengeti means grass plains in Swahili, but in my language it means fantastic and bewilderment, from watching cheetahs move from a standing start to a sprint in a split second in a failed attempt at a gezzals, seeing Leopards spread across tree branches asleep with the previous nights kill jammed in the trunk fork to be consumed at a latter time, at watching astonished at the site of a lion pride thirty strong walking past our vehicle as if we do not exist and watching totally memorised as individuals stop no more than a reach away from my window just so they can lean against our car in its shade for a small rest while still continuing to scout the horizon for prey before slowly moving on, to seeing disturbing scenes such as a pod of 200 strong hippos cramped into a single heavily polluted water hole along with rotting hippo corpses and over fed fat crocks all waiting for the rains to arrive so they can move on and back into good times, feeling sickened and yet amazed at watching a large male baboon greedily devouring a small antelope before my eyes that it has just freshly killed, but also feeling absolutely delighted at seeing things such as baby elephants only weeks old play like children using their trunks to pick up small sticks to wave around and pushing each other over just for fun and finally finishing the day off at the famous Oldupai Gorge, the home of the oldest know humanoids remains plus their foot prints, home of our ancestors, who lived, made tools and died there some 1.5 million years earlier discovered by Dr Leakey and his wife, but this is only part of what I have witnessed, there was so much more. Serengeti a true joy, I have one hope that my words can give you a small part of what I have seen and felt and have enjoyed, but I know my words will disappear into insignificance once you have experience first hand what I have seen and have felt, Serengeti awaits you all.
