Serious stuff this time, folks. Further on the theme of heat stroke (熱中症), there were 537 recorded case between 1st June and 10th August (only 535 cases last year between June and September). The most important stat here is that 56 of the cases thus far have occurred indoors. If you have elderly family or know elderly people as neighbors it might be worth checking on them and reminding them not to keep the windows closed if the air conditioner is not on. As the article states, heat stroke can sneak up on elderly people because of their reduced capacity to feel the heat (高齢者は暑さを感じる・汗をかく力が低下しているため、気温や湿度の高まりに気付くのが遅れ、自宅での熱中症につながるケースが多いという).
