Several days ago, the San Antonio Express-News published an op-ed I wrote on keeping our promise to veterans and those who serve in our Armed Forces. In light of this week’s tragic event at Ft. Hood, Texas, where four people died and more than a dozen injured, it seems even more obvious that our sons and daughters who have served or are serving in uniform need the resources and support they were promised. We must get these service members and veterans and their families the help they need. I have such tremendous respect for their service and sacrifice - my commitment is to them and their families.
