Several years ago, I acquired a large batch of one of a kind, main;ly 17 internal studio disks with multiple takes of musical numbers from early (mainly MGM and UA) features and shorts. These were recorded live and capture the studio chatter before and after each take. The sound engineer who saved these was obviously an operatic fan (not my forte) as they include many by Lawrence Tibbett, Nino Martini, and others. Among the most interesting are about a dozen from the still largely lost THE ROGUE SONG (MGM/30) whose claim to fame today is mainly as a Technicolor feature with comedy relief by Laurel & Hardy. My disks only have Tibbett and co-star Catherine Dale Owen, but I wanted to share a few here. Here is one of my one-of-a-kind internal MGM studio disks, recorded on set during a scene for the lost film THE ROGUE SONG. This has multiple takes by star Lawrence Tibbett. https://soundcloud/vitaphone/06-rogue-song-little-white-dove-flub
