Several years ago, i was on Lake Livingston in a boat, and we could see a storm coming in our direction rather swiftly. As the wind picked up and the waves got choppy, my father in law cranked up the motor and we got out of there. We got a little wet as we bounced away, and i was quite thankful that my father in law once raced boats! For about 60 seconds or so, it was...interesting. In Luke 8, we find the story in which the Jesus and the disciples are crossing the Sea of Galilee and as Jesus sleeps, a storm threatens their lives. They know that if the boat sinks, they will all drown. ADD moment: maybe they shouldn’t wear those long robes? Anyway, they wake Jesus, He chides them for their lack of faith, commands the storm to stop, and it does. The disciples are freaked out. Ever wonder if Jesus is asleep in your life? Stuff is going on, and you wonder, Is Jesus asleep? Does He even care? Of course He cares! Understand this: if you belong to Christ, He is not going to allow you to become overwhelmed by the situation. He is stretching you, pushing you to grow in faith, but Hes in control this whole time. Its not about you, its about Him revealing the glory of God all around you. Dont freak out, and dont let worry rule you. There should be only one Lord, and His name is not freaking out or worry or anxious. His name is Jesus. Trust Him, and ask Him to reveal Gods glory in your situation. Then you can freak out...with praise, awe, wonder, etc. Luke 8:22-25--22 Now on one of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, Let us go over to the other side of the lake. So they launched out. 23 But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger. 24 They came to Jesus and woke Him up, saying, Master, Master, we are perishing! And He got up and rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and it became calm. 25 And He said to them, Where is your faith? They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?
