Severe Weather Outlook My Houston Weather.Net Sunday July 7, 2013 Corrected A tropical disturbance moves ashore and into our area today. At present the National Hurricane Center says there is Zero Percent chance of this becoming a tropical cyclone. For the most part I agree that it is unlikely that this will be nothing more than a tropical disturbance but even NWS HGX is saying they will keep a close watch on this system. I think this is a good idea and I will be watching it as well. While the likelihood of this becoming a Tropical Depression is zero we still need to watch it. Thunderstorms will begin after 1 PM and may deposit a half to an inch of rain. Most of the action will be south of Interstate 10 and will continue into Monday and Tuesday. As for the chances of this system becoming severe I really doubt it as it would appear that the dynamic are just not there. Biggest problem if any will be flooding in low lying areas. At present Flash Flood Guidance would indicate that flash flooding should not be a problem. Will also keep an eye on rivers and streams but at present do not see any real problems. Lightning is always a danger and people should be careful when going outside during thunderstorms. Rose
