Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from you hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” (Daniel 3:16-18) It took a lot of courage to face down a notoriously powerful king. It took great boldness to express unwavering in an invisible God. But it was off-the-charts courageous to leave their fate in the hands of a God who might or might not deliver them from a horrible death. Only a deep belief in the very nature of God can generate such assurance in times of troubling uncertainty. Such release come to your spirit when can place your jumbled up life into the hands of a trustworthy God and say, “do what you want with it… it doesn’t matter. I’m going to follow you.” Feel the courage well up in your soul when you see God clearly enough to say, “I’ll trust you regardless of how my situation comes out.”
