Shahid Kapoor whose next film, ‘R...Rajkumar’ is gearing for release this month, the actor has landed in Kashmir to shoot for Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘ Haider’ which is based on Shakespearean tragedies, Haider is an interpretation of Shakespeares revenge tragedy play Hamlet. The cast and the crew of ‘Haider’ have landed in Kashmir with full eagerness. A look of the film was released which shows Shraddha Kapoor dressed like a simple Kashmiri girl and Shahid coarsely dressed looking through the window. Shahid Kapor will play a modern day Hamlet and Shraddha Kapoor will play a desi Ophelia. The movie will be entirely shot in Kashmir during winter and summer and director Vishal Bhardwaj has already taken permission of Kashmirs CM Omar Abdullah. The director has reportedly been quoted saying, Every character is Kashmiri in my film. It is the story of the people of Kashmir-both in period and present. Says a source close to the project, Haider will have two looks. Kashmir in winter and Kashmir in summer. Shahid will play Hamlet in a modern Kashmiri context with the unrest in the Valley forming a backdrop. And yes, Kashmir would be prominently featured and named in the film. Few scenes of Ayan Mukherjee’s ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ were shot in Kashmir but when the film released it has named the place as Manali. Says a source close to the project, The script clearly named Kashmir as the place that Ranbir, Deepika, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Kalki visit in the course of the plots journey. Being a Karan Johar production there was no problem in getting the necessary permission. Omar Abdullah played host to Ayan, Ranbir and Deepika. However when the film was released Kashmir was passed off as Manali. Vishal is however very comfortable shooting in Kashmir.. Says a source close to his project, Vishal is very comfortable in Kashmir. In fact he shot one major chunk of 7 Khoon Maaf in Kashmir. Haider will be the first Hindi film since Vidhu Vinod Chopras Mission: Kashmir to be shot entirely in the Valley. This is Shraddha and Shahids first film together and we really hope their chemistry click. Unfortunately, Vishal Bharadwaj s last film, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola badly doomed at the box-office.
