Shakes Mashaba did a great job before and hes still doing a great job with bafana bafana.As Im writing these status,he has won the hearts of millions of south africans.Just a quick reminder before he took over,bafana used to lose to minnows like botswana and Ethipioa.Hes on a great run and I hope he does not become his own worst enemy.Lemme put it this way,I have too many unanswered questions about how he does things since his second term.why does it seem like he has a personal vendetta against some overseas based players?why does it look like its always mashaba and an overseas player?Im not trying to deflate the man or his achievements.I just feel there are some things that I do not understand about him and how he does things. 1.During the qualification games he called up Kamogelo mokotjo and benched him for two full games and after that he went to the media and said Kamo was fat and sluggish.Kamos coach in holland @ Fc twente was shocked to hear that and wrote on his clubs official website Im surprised the coach said that about mokotjo because he is my first team player and a regular.he even provided statistics that proved mokotjo was the best midfielder in his league.he bettered em all includding serero but the coach concluded that he does not understand how we do things in Africa and asked wheres the professionalism? In a coach has a problem he goes to the player not the media but kamo did not respond. 2.Shakes did not call up serero for the first 2 qualifying matches.he started calling him up because of the pressure of the media,soccer pundits and fans. 3.he called up ayanda patosi and the boy missed 2 flights upon realising his mistakes.The boy offered to pay for his flight and come but shakes negated. 4.May mahlangu had just returned from injury and he was called for bafana.he explained he was tired and he was banned from bafana.The boy had just returned from a long injury lay off,he was still tryina find his feet @ his new club but guess what? The media had a field day calling him names,poking fun @ him.Remember,the media has a big inffluence on how people think. MY POINT iS the fans,media and soccer pundits are fickle like the weather.They are not to be trusted,one minutes their in your corner,the other they are the one throwing em stones @ that very same corner they left you.Once you start under perfoming,you will see what Im talking about ....whats the criteria for selecting players for Bafana?Today Ill talk from a soccer lovers perspective,lets forget pirates a little bit.Im not gon prevaricate nor mollycoddle ish,Im going for the kill LOL .Mashaba must select players based on merit and nothing else.Objectivity waya waya baba.Now lets look @ the group we were in and analyze our perfomance before we put him (Shakes) on pedestal.we were pitted against nigeria,congo brazaville,and sudan.....Ill start with Nigeria,they are one of the powerhouse of africa if not the BEST in africa but honestly we played em when they had problems with their football federation and FIFA was threatening to ban em.They had just fired and reinstated their head coach.In other words we played em when they were @ the weakest,in a turmoil and had myraid of problems but failed to beat em (TWICE) home and away.Congo and sudan?with all due respect,these two teams are minnows of african football and Ive nothing to say about em.what do I say? Where do I begin? Besides bafana is rated amongst the best 16 teams in africa meaning they are expected to qualify and be part of the 16 teams taking part in the tournament.so I dont understand whats all the noise about Bafana qualifying?Arent we rated in top 16? Now back to the selected squad Tshepo masilela has won many man of the match than any other leftback in the country these season.why is he not there? You tell us khune was left out because hes been on the bench and not playing?okay then what is thabo matlaba doing there?where has he been playing?mmmm what is a strikers job? To score goals.right?Now compare Majoros goal to ratio per game to that of bongani ndulula and comeback to me.Many strikers in the PSL are doing better than ndulula but still hes there ahead of em.Based on what?AKITSE le nna.perfomance?favour?history?I really dont.How does oupa manyisa,thuso phala,themba zwane,mandla masango,thamsanqa sangweni and letsholonyane get selected ahead of Thulani serero?The same serero who won player of the season,players player of the season and Footballer of the season right in front of em.winning these awards and going to the eridivisie (holland) was a sign that hes in a higher level than em.Serero rubs shoulders with the likes of messi,Xavi,neymar eish the list is endless but still hes ostracised.what must he do to be considered/seen? SOCCER IS CRUEL and players feelings are never considered and the media is forever brainwashing the people mostly myopic,primitive and closed off fans. E.g bongani khumalo was called up for bafana in march these year against brazil.he got injured in that game and hes never kicked a ball since and hes contract @ tottenham hotspur is coming to an end.Bafana are using different players and have completely forgotten about him.No fan/media person/soccer pundit is talkin about him.Remember his club pays his salary not bafana and next time when he says he cant make it.The media will start talking rubbish. Soccer players are people with feelings,with families to provide for.Now back to Mashaba why is these forever fighting some overseas players?is it because the earn more money than him? What is it? I wish I could know the answer.If I was stupid,obstinate and opinionated Id say mashabas obstinancy is because of hes shangaan. Id give examples of Jomo sono and compare him to kaizer motaung.Both former pirates players who started their own teams and motaung hired professionals to help him with the running of the club instead of wanting to run it by himself .he hires coaches and does not wanna coach just because he played soccer. Or Id compare him to my chairman Khoza who sometimes run a team that can finish 10 years without a trophy? I mean how? Why not ask for advice?luckily Im not stupid and myopic and I wont do that. Soccer is a cruel sports where players are sleves and nobody has their best interest @ heart YES some overseas players lack patriostism but not all of em and the same applies for some local players too
