Shalom friends!!! Still in Genesis … What can I say? I like the way NASB states: “Abraham died in a ripe old age” (Gen. 25:8). I know that the literal meaning of the word ‘ripe’ used here is ‘advanced years’ or an old man. But I like the other two meanings this word has: (i) fully grown and developed or MATURE. And (ii) having mature KNOWLEDGE, understanding, or judgment. For sure that Abraham (the father of our faith KNEW his God, demonstrated his faith, fulfilled his destiny, and lived an abundant life. Read the second part of the same verse: “Abraham … satisfied with life; was gathered to his people” (Gen. 25:8). Abundant life is not the life Christians are going to inherent when they die (that too), but more importantly the LIFE in the HERE and NOW. Jesus says: “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10(b)). As Abraham’s descendants – children of the Promise, and especially based on John 10:10, we, Christians, have the birth-right to experience the abundant life Christ is giving us. The Abundant Life is the LIFE of Jesus given and manifested in His brother and sisters in the here and now. (Gen. 25:8, Jn. 10:10). Enjoy it! Are you enjoying this kind of LIFE? If “Yes!” – Praise the Lord!!! If “No!” – Why not? Call me to elaborate on this subject … Blessings!!! Valy
