Shanon I think Id always known, from the moment I felt you growing inside my womb, that you will be my best friend. Weve gone through so many fights, laughters and tears, stories that mothers and daughters dont usually share with each other. These pictures of you, of us actually, on your first birthday... Weve gone so far... Weve changed a lot (well, actually, I havent changed a lot... Hahaha!!! Alam na). But you know what? You are one of the two best things that has ever happened to me. Look at you on your first birthday... And look at you now. Youve grown to be an amazing 20 year old young woman. Maybe you still have a lot to learn about responsibility but you are on your way. You have all the time in the world. Dont waste your time doing things that you can do when youre old like lie in bed with your phone and laptop. Do something that you know you wont be able to do when you get to my age. Enjoy your youth. No matter how many times we say well be Forever Young, we wont. Talk to friends over the phone (landline phones, not cellphones). Play with them (not beer pong, black or red or bullshit) Be a child, for cryin out loud....! Play hide and seek, chinese garter, hop scotch or even just the dumbest old school games you can think of. And most of all... the greatest lesson I could ever share with you... Fall in love as much as you can but do not, I repeat, DO NOT compromise yourself just to show some dumb guy how much you love them. If he loves you, hed wait. I just hope that with all the stories, the advices and the intimidation that Ive so generously shared with you, Im not just bitting the dust. And with that, let me just say how lucky I am to have a daughter like you... You are such a strong person. A strong but soft heart. You know what I mean. HAPPY HAPPY 20th birthday anak ko...
