Share this update and help others realize how the biggest problem with gun-control is gun-control. Once again gun-control has failed, leaving people to live or die at the whim of a crazed killer. This time, in the state said to have the toughest measures. So what is the natural response? Why more of what failed us, of course! At least if we pass new gun-control measures, then we will be able to take some solace knowing that had the shooter not killed himself or been killed by the police, and had the shooter not been found mentally unfit to stand trial, and had the shooter not plead out to avoid a costly trial, THEN at least the shooter would have to face 8 life sentences instead of only 7. Bam! Take that criminals. Never mind the fact a citizen may have been able to stop the shooter early on, or at least mitigated the damage somewhere; if we can stop just one, right? No, it is better to let the situation take it’s course. It is better to subject one’s self to the mercy of a deranged psycho. But don’t worry, we will remember you fondly and tack on another felony charge or two to the dozens the shooter would already be facing in the unlikely event they actually face charges. The biggest problem with gun-control is gun-control. It may sound good on paper, but it never holds up when applied to the real world. Laws are static while people are not. People are dynamic and constantly change. No law can change the fact that some people spend more time finding ways around laws than complying with them. In the real world, criminals dont follow laws. In the real world, bad people do bad things. In the real world, the police, no matter how good their intentions, cannot always be there to protect you. In the real world, a piece of paper in a book that few people have ever read will do nothing to stop someone intent on doing harm. In the real world, you are responsible for your own safety, and those who limit your ability to do so are not your friends.
