Yesterday I was invited to a fundraising event by a woman who I only know through a Facebook group. The fundraiser was to Raise money for a 4 year old boy who was diagnosed with leukemia. His family is very low income and cant afford the treatment he needs. She didnt give many details, just said he family asked her to do this fundraiser. I responded by asking in which state he is being treated. I said most states have health coverage for kids regardless of their parents income. I told her that my daughters is a leukemia survivor and I am aware of a lot of resources that might be able to help this family. I was trying to be helpful. This woman banned me from the event, blocked me from her friends list, and removed a post about her fundraiser that was in a group that we both belong to. So I think it is safe to assume she is trying to scam people. So as always, please be careful to whom you donate money and be very cautious of online fundraisers. It is a shame that there are people willing to make up a sick child for their own gain.
