Shared via my longtime friend Sterlena Annette Harris (a big thank you!). The very reason one has to explain this to people is that we live in an either/or culture--you can either be this, or that, not both. That is a wholly false dichotomy. As a humanist, in my view, people are people: It is their character, not their character or culture, that determines their worth. How is this rocket science?
